KELLY NOLAN

MADISON, Wis. — The mother of a missing 22-year-old college student vowed not to give up searching for her daughter, who vanished a week ago while out with a group of friends.

"We're going to find you, Kelly," Mary Jane Nolan told family and friends gathered for a candlelight vigil for Kelly Nolan. "We're going to be back the way we were before, as a family."

Nolan was with a group of friends in downtown Madison last Friday night, but left the group around 11:30 p.m., said Joel DeSpain, public relations officer for the Madison Police Department.

Nolan's younger sister said the two women had a phone conversation early Saturday morning, and that was the last anyone had heard from her, DeSpain said.

The family knew something was wrong when she didn’t call, he said, adding that the sisters rarely went a day without talking on the phone.

Nolan, originally from Waunakee, had recently bought an apartment and moved to Madison from Whitewater, where she went to school.

Family members said Nolan also went to a job interview in Madison on the morning before she disappeared.
